The Computer lab in Ghaziabad District library, which is an initiative under the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Global Libraries initiative, was launched on 28th Feb 2014. The goal of the project is to ensure that all people, especially those in disadvantaged communities around the world, have access to information through technology in public libraries. This initiative is being carried out in different countries and the foundation has recently launched this programme in India with Ghaziabad Library chosen as one of the partners for this project. Moserbaer Trust has partnered with NASSCOM Foundation to implement this Project “CONNECT”.
Moserbaer Trust has been working on this 18 month pilot project in the District Public Library in Ghaziabad with a focus on the transformation of library and to expand its role as a platform for promotion of ICT .The computer lab has 11 computers which is functional now with members having access to the computers and internet where the members can search for employment, access government programs, learn new skills through online courses and e –books, research about career options, and apply for jobs & online courses as well.
The computer lab in the library was inaugurated by the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad MR. S.V.S Rangarao , who is also the chairman of the District Library Committee.
